State of the Workplace: Key Findings from Morgan Stanley's 2024 Financial Benefits Study
w/
John Rogers, Institutional Consultant @ Graystone Consulting
Morgan Stanley’s State of Workplace Financial Benefits Study explores the role and perception of workplace benefits, helping to uncover opportunities for employers to enhance employee engagement.
In this fourth iteration of our annual study, many of the core financial themes that have shaped the study since its inception remain at the forefront. Amid ongoing economic uncertainty, workers are still under financial stress and are looking to their employers for financial guidance. While HR leaders are responding, they are increasingly challenged to improve employee benefits programs, education and awareness in the face of tight business margins and unpredictable economic conditions.
Employers should consider implementing strategies that focus on employee retention and satisfaction. Programs like Nonqualified Deferred Compensation Plans can reward executives and create powerful incentives, beyond what is offered in the 401(k) plan, to attract and retain key employees and address their financial stress. However, simply offering a financial benefit without a robust education and communication plan can result in under-utilization of a potentially valuable program.
Attendees will gain valuable insights on the shifts and solutions needed to offer comprehensive financial support in the workplace that deliver better financial outcomes to U.S. workers.
Key Takeaways:
- Employees want financial support from the workplace.
- Retirement and financial guidance top the list of must-haves.
- Workplace benefits remain a key driver of engagement and retention.
- HR leaders believe more work needs to be done.
- Benefits awareness and education is the next frontier.
