Rethinking Rewards: 2025 Compensation Trends and Tactics
w/ Kevin Marrs, Vice President - ASE
This session will explore key findings from the 2025 ASE Compensation Survey, which gathered data from 437 Michigan employers, covering over 575 positions and 106,000 employees. We’ll examine the latest pay trends—including a deceleration in wage growth—and place them within the broader context of economic uncertainty, labor market shifts, and rising unemployment. Participants will gain insight into how employers are adjusting salary budgets, prioritizing performance-based pay, and expanding total rewards strategies. We’ll also touch on the growing role of data and AI in compensation planning. This session will offer practical, forward-looking strategies to help HR professionals navigate the evolving pay landscape and position their organizations for success in 2025 and beyond.
Kevin Marrs serves as Vice President at the American Society of Employers (ASE). In this role, he is responsible for overseeing ASE’s compensation and benefits survey department. ASE conducts a variety of local and national benchmark surveys, providing data to thousands of organizations in Michigan. For more than 20 years, Kevin Marrs has conducted research and analysis on the total rewards practices and trends of area employers. Kevin is also responsible for conducting employee surveys for ASE member organizations. Kevin conducts several ASE
training programs including Wage and Salary Administration Overview, Conducting Job Analysis and Writing Job Descriptions, and Market Pricing for Results.
